Founders Joe and Tammie Friberg launched Equip Disciples with the
simple vision of facilitating ministry by members of Christ's Body
as they exercise their spiritual gifts. God has distributed gifts
across the Body. His purpose is that every Christian should become mature
and minister to others and serve them with their gifts. This includes laypeople who, through a lifetime of
walking with Christ, have vast reservoirs of life experience, knowledge
of Scripture, and perspective that can be shared with others.
In many parts of the world, church leaders don't have the
benefit of many of resources that we take for granted. While we are far
from perfect as individuals or as churches, still, our Christian,
Bible-based heritage offers many benefits we can share with others. Even
we as laypeople have blessings
to offer other believers across the globe.
At the same time, we have many things to learn ourselves. Whenever we
cross boundaries to preach the gospel, teach the
Scriptures, disciple others, encourage the work of ministry--we invariably find that we ourselves are encouraged, challenged, and
strengthened in our own faith and obedience. We often gain a clearer
perspective on ourselves as we observe others' lives. Or it often
happens that another person's perspective on our lives opens our eyes to our
own cultural blind spots.
As iron sharpens iron,
so one man sharpens another. (Proverbs 27.17)
Tammie and Joe have three children ages seven to fifteen. Each of
them has come to know and love the Lord, and are actively and
enthusiastically serving the Lord in their own ways. They assist in
classes for younger kids or help with computers and media, according to
the gifts and talents God has given them.
Tammie serves as Executive Director of Equip
Disciples and oversees much of what we do, so if you contact us, she is
likely to be the person you'll hear from first.
Joe serves as President of Equip Disciples,
gets involved in many of the mission projects, and helps out with many
assorted details.
