Equip Disciples is sponsoring a fun BikeRunWalk to raise money for Bibles in Africa, and to supply Mission Arlington with Spanish and English Bibles for their own distribution and needs. Come join us for the fun and for the cause! Both individuals and families will enlist sponsors and will complete either a 3, 7, or 14 mile course that they choose to bike, run, or walk.

100% of the funds donated by sponsors will be used to purchase Bibles that Equip Disciples will distribute in DR Congo, Rwanda, and Kenya this summer.

Details

Date:	Sunday, May 2, 2010, 4:30pm-8:00pm
Place:	Elm Grove Pavilion at River Legacy Parks, Arlington, TX
Course:	3, 7, or 14 mile course either biking, running, or walking.
Entry fee:	$15 for individual, $25 for families. Of these amounts, a portion ($10 per individual and $20 per family) will be used for Bibles and is tax-deductible contribution.
T-shirt:	One t-shirt is provided for those pre-registering. Additional t-shirts may be purchased at $5 each.
Prizes awarded:	The top 3 entrants in each category (individual or family) who raise the most contributions for Bibles and complete the course will receive prizes. Winners will be notified after the event and posted here online at http://EquipDisciples.org/Bike4Bibles.

The Need

In many third world countries, there are thousands of believers who can read but have no Bibles of their own because of the circumstances in which they live. Poverty, regional conflicts, political and economic turmoil—all contribute challenges to everyday life. There are many church leaders and even entire congregations in Africa that don’t own a Bible. This year Equip Disciples will lead mission teams to encourage and equip church leaders, and part of that mission will be to distribute Bibles in DR Congo, Rwanda, Kenya, and Ghana./p>

The Challenge

We are seeking to raise funds for 700 Bibles. That’s $7,000 counted at $10 a Bible. So $5 is ½ the cost of a Bible, $10 = 1 Bible, etc.* Bibles will be distributed to church leaders, ex-child soldiers, and churches. Equip Disciples works with indigenous ministries to help bring Bible training to church leaders and members, and works with these local ministries to distribute Bibles to those in greatest need who will put them to good use in daily reading, study, and ministry.

* Prices are approximate and vary by country and language; study Bibles that are often given to pastors run about $20 each. In any case, 100% of donations will be used to purchase Bibles for distribution in Africa.

Instructions for Participants

1. Complete Registration form (download) and sign as indicated. Then either:
   1. Mail completed form with registration fee to Equip Disciples by April 22; or
   2. Email the completed form and pay registration fee online by April 25; or
   3. Bring completed form with you to the BikeRunWalk on May 2 (no t-shirt can be provided for walk-up registrations).
2. Registration fee is $15 for an individual or $25 for a family PLUS a new or gently used Bible to donate to Mission Arlington (Spanish or English). One t-shirt will be provided per registration. Out of the registration fee, a portion ($10 per individual and $20 per family) will be used for Bibles and is tax-deductible. Additional t-shirts can be purchased in advance at $5 each.
3. Enlist sponsors to donate funds for Bibles. Use as many copies of the Sponsor Sign-up Form (second page in WORD) as you need to compete for the prizes. Note that sponsors may either:
   1. Give you a check which you will turn in at the BikeRunWalk on May 2; or
   2. Make their donation online.
   3. Note that sponsors may also give addition Bibles to Mission Arlington along with their donation for Bibles in Africa.
4. Prizes will be given for the top 3 individuals and top 3 families who raise the most contributions for Bibles and who complete the BikeRunWalk course.
5. Give each sponsor a copy of the Donor Information sheet (third page in Registration file).

 

The Mission

Equip Disciples is a missions organization who's purpose is to strengthen and equip church leaders living in difficult circumstances due to religious persecution, poverty, disease, and/or war, strengthening them for the purpose of ministry and planting churches in these regions. Equip Disciples leads training conferences for church leaders and provides ministry tools, such as study Bibles and theological discipleship materials to pastors and other leaders.

Equip Disciples is a 501(c)(3) ministry and a Nonprofit corporation in the State of Texas. All donations are tax-deductible for Federal Income Tax purposes.
